Brad took this photograph of a (Reed) Long-tailed Cormorant as it flew in front of the open dining/reception area at Nxamaseri Lodge (Botswana) during the morning of August 20, 2012, while I was out birding nearby floodplains in a Mokoro. The (Reed) Long-tailed Cormorant, Microcarbo africanus, has an all-black body. The male has a small crest on the forehead. Wings are a speckled, gray-brown color. The eyes are red, and the bill is yellow. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this clear morning with blue skies.
