Brad took this photograph of a pair of (Swamp) Gabon Boubous, Laniarius bicolor, early in the morning on August 21, 2012, while we were birding around Nxamaseri Lodge (Botswana) looking for Pel's Owl. Upperparts are black with a white splash on the wings, and underparts are white. Boubous are Bushshrikes with heavy shrike-like bills. This species differs from the Southern Boubou with its cinnamon wash on the flanks and undertail coverts. Temperatures were in the upper 60's on this clear day with blue skies.
