The African Fish-Eagle, Haliaetus vocifer, shown here is a fairly common resident. Its white head and breast along with a white "V-shaped" pattern continuing down the nape and a short white tail make this bird distinctive and easy to ID. We'd left Nxamaseri Lodge (Botswana) the morning of August 21, 2012, by boat and were birding the floodplains and islands in the area. Temperatures were in the mid-70's on this clear day with blue skies.
