Brad took this photograph of a male Black-headed Oriole, Oriolus larvatus, early in the morning on August 21, 2012, while we were birding around Nxamaseri Lodge (Botswana) looking for Pel's Owl. A black hood covers the head and chest. Underparts are a bright yellow. The bird's mantle is a grayish yellow. The iris is red, and the bill is pink. Temperatures were in the upper 60's on this clear day with blue skies.
