Brad took this photograph of a Black Crake, Amaurornis flavirostris, from the open dining/reception area at Nxamaseri Lodge (Botswana) during the afternoon of August 20, 2012, as the bird adeptly walked on the floating vegetation. The Black Crake is aptly named as it has black upper- and underparts. It has red legs, a bright yellow bill, and a red iris. Temperatures were in the upper 80's on this clear day with blue skies.
