We returned to Xakanaxa Camp (Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana) after doing some early morning birding and looking for big game on August 23, 2012. Brad photographed a Burchell's Starling, Lamprotornis australis, while it perched outside the dining area (birding never stops). Burchell's is the largest of the glossy starling species. It has dark eyes set in a black mask and iridescent blue to purplish coloration. The tail is rounded. Temperatures were edging upward toward the high 80's with clear blue skies.
