After brunch on August 23, 2012, we birded around Xakanaxa Camp (Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana). Brad photographed a Burchell's Starling, Lamprotornis australis, near the dining area. Burchell's is the largest of the glossy starling species. It has dark eyes set in a black mask and iridescent blue to purplish coloration. The tail is rounded. Temperatures were in the low 90's with clear blue skies.
