Brad photographed this Crested Barbet, Trachyphonus vaillantii, perched near the reception/dining area at Nxamaseri Lodge in Botswana the morning of August 20, 2012. Plumage is yellow and black. The crest and neck shield are black. Red scaling is present on the head and upper chest area (more profuse in males). Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this clear morning with blue skies.
