During the afternoon of August 23, 2012, after a much needed siesta and some refreshing snacks and tea, we headed out to bird and look for big game on the Moremi Game Reserve (Botswana) from Xakanaxa Camp. Brad photographed a male Red Lechwe (Kobus leche) to show its long horns that sweep back from its head and are heavily annulated (ring-like divisions). The Red Lechwe inhabits seasonal floodplains and shallow swamps adjacent to open water and tend to avoid woodlands and water deeper than 50 cm. because of their physiology and soft hooves. Temperatures were in the mid-90's on this clear day with blue skies.
