After a light, early morning breakfast on August 24, 2012, at Xakanaxa Camp, we took a safari vehicle for one last birding/big game expedition in Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. Brad photographed a Smith's Bush (Striped Tree) Squirrel, Paraxerus cepapi, while it was crawling down the trunk of a tree. Its color is variable from a pale gray in the western and arid parts of its range to brownish in the eastern part of its range. The head and legs are a rusty color, while the belly is white. It carries its long tail extended backwards. Temperatures were edging up into the upper 70's on this clear day.
