Brad took a profile shot of a male Waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus) standing next to a wooded area on the Moremi Game Reserve (Botswana) during the morning of August 23, 2012. We'd left Xakanaxa Camp which lies in the heart of the Okavango Delta just after sunrise via a safari vehicle. Waterbucks are large antelopes found widely in sub-Saharan Africa. The male's long, spiral horns sweep up and back from the head. Waterbuck venison is edible, but unless the animal is skinned carefully it may have an unpleasant odor (due to the secretions of its sweat glands)..don't think it is especially tasty. Temperatures were in the low 80's with clear sunny skies.
