We'd left Nxamaseri Lodge (Botswana) early in the morning on August 21, 2012, by boat and birded the floodplains and islands in the area until mid-morning. From that point forward, we concentrated our efforts on finding a Pel's Fishing-Owl by walking and birding one of the islands (luckily no large mammals were around). Brad photographed this water lily near where we saw Pel's flying over the water between two islands. Temperatures were in the mid-80's on this clear day with blue skies.
