Brad took this photograph of a Gray-backed Camaroptera, Camaroptera brevicaudata, early in the morning on August 21, 2012, while we were birding around Nxamaseri Lodge (Botswana) looking for Pel's Owl. A member of the Cisticolidae family, this small bird has grayish-brown upperparts, whitish underparts, and a short tail which is typically held cocked. Temperatures were in the low 60's on this clear day with blue skies.
