During the afternoon of August 23, 2012, after a much needed siesta and some refreshing snacks and tea, we headed out to bird and look for big game on the Moremi Game Reserve (Botswana) from Xakanaxa Camp. Brad photographed a Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris) that was walking in a nearby grassy area. The blue neck and area around the eye, red cap, and horny casque atop the head are distinctive. The neck of an adult is unfeathered. Temperatures were in the mid-90's on this clear day with blue skies.
