Brad took this photograph of me sitting in a Mokoro, a traditional dug-out canoe that is "poled" along the shallow flood plains. Our VENT guide is seated behind me and one of the "polers" can be seen in the lower right of the photo. It was a great way to get a close-up, "bird's eye" view of the wildlife near Nxamaseri Lodge (Botswana)! We spent the morning of August 20, 2012, getting great looks at Lesser Jacana and African Pygmy Geese (plus a lot of other wonderful birds). Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this clear morning with blue skies. Brad decided to sit this one out and didn't go on the Mekoro trip. Instead, he birded around the lodge and relaxed in the reception area.
