After brunch on August 23, 2012, we birded around Xakanaxa Camp (Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana). Brad photographed a Luapula Cisticola, Cisticola luapula, perched on a reed in the marsh (Okavango Delta) behind the camp's common/breakfast area. Recently split from the Rufous-winged Cisticola, the Luapula differs from it in its call and behavioral patterns. Geographically, Luapula is restricted to the swamps and waterways of the Okavango Delta and the Caprivi region of northern Namibia. Temperatures were in the low 90's with clear blue skies.
