After a light, early morning breakfast on August 24, 2012, at Xakanaxa Camp, we took a safari vehicle for one last birding/big game expedition in Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. After birding for several hours, we headed back to camp. Brad photographed a Meves's Starling, Lamprotornis mevesii, on the way there. Similar to and easily confused with Burchell's Starling, Meves's has a slender body with a very long tail. It has black underparts, eye, and mask. Upperparts are iridescent shades of blue. Temperatures were in the low 80's on this clear day.
