After brunch on August 23, 2012, we birded around Xakanaxa Camp (Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana). The Red-chested Flufftail, Sarothrura rufa, is a small crake that, as we found out, is very secretive and difficult to flush. This male skulked around in the reedy undergrowth of a marshy area near the tent of one of our group's members. How Brad got a shot of it is beyond me. The head, mantle, and lower breast are a reddish-rufous color. The remainder of the black body is streaked with white. Temperatures were in the low 90's with clear blue skies.
