Brad took this photograph of a Red-eyed Dove, Streptopelia semitorquata, early in the morning on August 21, 2012, while we were birding around Nxamaseri Lodge (Botswana) looking for Pel's Owl. The pale pink head is topped with gray. The iris is red, and the eye-ring is purple. Upperparts are a grayish brown, and underparts are a pinkish-purple. A broad black nuchal collar is present. Temperatures were in the upper 60's on this clear day with blue skies.
