After a light, early morning breakfast on August 24, 2012, at Xakanaxa Camp, we took a safari vehicle for one last birding/big game expedition in Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. Brad photographed a Swallow-tailed Bee-Eater, Merops hirundineus, as it perched on a slender branch. This fork-tailed Bee-Eater has bluish underparts and tail, a bright blue collar, a black wedge through the eye, and a yellow chin and throat. Temperatures were edging up into the upper 70's on this clear day.
