We photographed this grouping of a Western Great Egret, Ardea alba, (on the left) and Little Egrets, Egretta garzetta, during an afternoon birding expedition on August 21, 2012. Our boat left Nxamaseri Island Lodge (Maun, Botswana) and headed to the lagoon and solid ground where we boarded a safari vehicle so we could look for additional species. The Little Egret has a slender, pointed black bill and yellow feet. Temperatures were close to 90 degrees with clear blue skies.
