During the late afternoon of August 21, 2012, we left Nxamaseri Island Lodge (Maun, Botswana) by boat and headed to the lagoon and solid ground where we boarded a safari vehicle to look for additional species. The Yellow-billed Oxpecker, Buphagus africanus, is shown here on its mammalian host. Temperatures were close to 90 degrees with clear blue skies.
