Brad photographed this (Long-billed) Cape Crombec as it perched in a tree near a marshy area in Bagani Mahangu Game Reserve in Namibia the afternoon of August 19, 2012. We had stopped for a picnic lunch and were kept busy photographing the various species feeding in the area. The (Long-billed) Cape Crombec, Sylvietta rufescens, has a tailless appearance. A pale supercilium, dusky stripe through the eye, and a long, slightly decurved bill are characteristics of the species. It is bluish gray above with tawny underparts. Temperatures were in the 90's on this clear day.
