Brad photographed this African Sacred Ibis feeding at a marshy area in Bagani Mahangu Game Reserve in Namibia the afternoon of August 19, 2012. We had stopped for a picnic lunch and were kept busy photographing the various species feeding in the area. The African Sacred Ibis, Threskiornis aethiopicus, has a long, decurved, black bill. The head, neck (unfeathered), and legs along with loose, fluffy plumes on its back are also black. The rest of the bird is white. Temperatures were in the 90's on this clear day.
