We spent the early part of the morning on August 17, 2012, birding around Halali Camp and waterhole followed by a drive to Etosha Lookout. We photographed this Brown-crowned Tchagra, Tchagra australis, on the drive there. This bushshrike has a white supercilium bordered by a grayish-brown central crown and a black line extending from the bill to the nape. Wings are brown, and underparts have a pale buffy tinge. This is a thornveld species. Temperatures were in upper 70's on this beautiful morning with clear blue skies.
