A Burchell's Starling (Lamprotornis australis) is shown in this photo. This is the largest of the glossy starlings. It has a chunky body with a black mask, dark eyes, and a long rounded tail (shorter than Meve's). Temperatures were in the low 50's during this early morning birding trip on August 16, 2012, to the waterhole at Okaukuejo.
