We were up early the morning of August 13, 2012, to do some birding while the temperatures were still low. Brad photographed a Cape Bunting, Emeriza capensis, as it scampered across a distant boulder. The species is characterized by a pale throat, grayish underparts, and cinnamon colored wings. The black and white striping on the head is distinctive. Temperatures on this partly cloudy morning were in the upper 60's.
