After breakfast on August 13, 2012, we boarded a safari vehicle and drove along the dry Huab River bed until lunchtime. This is a photograph of a Common Scimitarbill, Rhinopomastus cyanomelas, that Brad took. The bird's feet are black as is the strongly decurved bill. Immature and female birds have brownish throats and breasts. Temperatures were in the low 90's on this clear, breezy afternoon.
