After dinner on August 15, 2012, we walked from our room to the permanent waterhole at Okaukuejo Camp in Etosha National Park (Namibia). It was a short walk, and Brad and I enjoyed the cool weather and looking at the star-filled sky. This photograph shows two of seven African Elephants (Loxodonta africana) that we observed socializing at the waterhole. Overhead mercury and/or sodium floodlights illuminate the waterhole and give photographs a yellowish-orange color. Temperatures were in the 50's on this cool evening.
