After a picnic lunch near a marshy area in Bagani Mahangu Game Reserve in Namibia the afternoon of August 19, 2012, we continued our drive to the Botswana border. We photographed this Southern (Common) Reedbuck, Redunca arundinum, cautiously watching us. This diurnal antelope can be found in southern Africa. The color of its coat ranges between light- and grayish-brown. Note the small, bare, black glandular patch at the base of each ear. Underparts and the area near the lips and chin are covered with white fur. Males have forward-curving horns. Temperatures were in the 90's on this clear day.
