One of the big hits of our August 14, 2012, morning birding outing was seeing a five plus meter long Southern African Python, Python natalensis, slithering along the ground abutting the dry Huab River bed. This species has no problem with opening its mouth to 180 degrees and downing prey up to 100% of its own body weight. Temperatures were in the mid-80's on this clear, sunny day.
