Brad photographed this pair of Southern Oryx (Gemsbok), Oryx gazella, standing on the edge of the waterhole at Okaukuejo Camp in Etosha National Park (Namibia) the morning of August 16, 2012. Gemsbok have light brownish-gray to tan colored upperparts with lighter patches on the bottom part of the rump. They appear to be outlined in black. Necks and shoulders are muscular. Legs have white "socks". Both genders have long, straight horns. However, the female's horns are longer and thinner with a slight outward and rearward curve. Black and white facial markings are distinctive. Temperatures were in the low 60's on this partly cloudy day.
