Brad and I were driving in a safari vehicle around the Huab property during the late afternoon of August 12, 2012. Sitting on the top tier of the vehicle, we ended up taking a "beating" along the rocky "road". The scenery alone, however, was worth the trip. This photo shows a closeup of the blossoms and spines on a mature Oleander tree, Pachypodium leoni. Huab and the surrounding areas in the northwestern part of Namibia offered arid savannah and woodland scenery sprinkled with large boulders, dry grasses, and hills. Temperatures on this clear, sunny afternoon were in the upper 80's.
