After a much needed siesta following lunch on August 14, 2012, Brad and I walked to the Huab reception/dining area where we boarded our safari vehicle for late afternoon birding. Brad photographed this Green-winged Pytilia, Pytilia melba. The female, shown here, has underparts with black and white barring, green wings, red bill, gray head, and reddish iris. Temperatures were in the upper 80's on this clear, sunny day.
