After lunch and a siesta on August 13, 2012, we walked from our lodge to the reception/dining area where we boarded a safari vehicle to begin our hunt for Hartmann's Mountain Zebra, Equus zebra hartmannae. One of the few bird species that we encountered on this late afternoon outing was a Groundscraper Thrush, Psophocichla Litsitsirupa, foraging in some open woodland. Upperparts are gray-brown in color. White underparts are heavily spotted with black spots and streaking. Temperatures were in the low 90's on this clear afternoon.
