After lunch and a siesta on August 13, 2012, we walked from our lodge to the reception/dining area where we boarded a safari vehicle to begin our hunt for Hartmann's Mountain Zebra, Equus zebra hartmannae. One of the few bird species that we encountered on this late afternoon outing was a Groundscraper Thrush, Psophocichla Litsitsirupa, foraging in some open woodland. Upperparts are gray-brown in color. White underparts are heavily spotted with black spots and streaking. The erect stance of this bird is characteristic of the species. Temperatures were in the low 90's on this clear afternoon.
