After a much needed siesta and settling in period during the afternoon of August 12, 2012, Brad and I walked to the reception area (a nice hike) at Huab Lodge. This building provided excellent bird viewing opportunities where Brad photographed some local species such as these Pale-winged Starlings, Onychognathus nabouroup. This all-black bird has an orange-colored iris and whitish wing panels (the outer half of the wing appears pale in flight). When perched, this panel appears red (see photo). Temperatures on this clear, sunny day were in the upper 80's.
