What a difference a couple of minutes can make! This photo 'looks' like a Pale-winged Starling (Onychognathus nabouroup) 'should look'. Lighting conditions changed allowing the camera to capture the bird's orange eye and give a truer representation of its color. Temperatures were in the low 50's during this early morning birding trip on August 16, 2012, to the waterhole at Okaukuejo.
