After a much needed siesta after lunch on August 14, 2012, Brad and I walked to the Huab reception/dining area. A Pearl-spotted Owlet, Glaucidium perlatum, was perched in a tree near the reception/food-prep area. This small earless owl is a common resident of the sub-Sahara inhabiting dry, open woodland, wooded savanna (like Huab), dense forest, and shrubland. Sexes are similar. Temperatures were in the upper 80's on this clear, sunny day.
