This Red-capped Lark, Calandrella cinerea, was busy drinking at the Klein Okevi Waterhole the morning of August 18, 2012. We had driven back to this waterhole to do some additional birding after having breakfast at Namutoni Camp. Rufous crown and rufous pectoral patches are diagnostic characteristics of this species. The bill and legs are dark. The bird's white supercilium and whitish underparts are also visible. Temperatures were in the low 80's on this clear day.
