After breakfast on August 16, 2012, we walked back to the waterhole at Okaukuejo Camp in Etosha National Park (Namibia). A mixed group of Shaft-tailed and Long-tailed Paradise-Whydahs were feeding on the ground. Whydahs are seed-eating finches, and the males in breeding plumage have spectacularly long tails. (No breeding plumage in this group.) The Shaft-tailed Whydah in this photo is identified by its red bill. Temperatures were in the low 60's with partly cloudy skies.
