Brad and I were driving in a safari vehicle around the Huab property during the late afternoon of August 12, 2012. Sitting on the top tier of the vehicle, we ended up taking a "beating" along the rocky "road". However, the scenery alone was worth the trip. One of our target birds on this trip was the Short-toed Rock-Thrush, Monticola brevipes, which we photographed as it perched on a rock next to the "road". Males in the western regions of Namibia have a whitish crown atop a bluish-gray colored head. The nape and throat are also a bluish-gray. Underparts are rufous. Temperatures on this clear, sunny afternoon were in the upper 80's.
