After lunch and a siesta on August 14, 2012, Brad and I walked to the Huab reception/dining area where we boarded our safari vehicle for late afternoon birding. Brad photographed a Short-toed Rock-Thrush, Monticola brevipesa, as it perched on some nearby boulders in the grassy expanse of Huab. Males in the western regions of Namibia have a whitish crown atop a bluish-gray colored head. The nape and throat are also a bluish-gray. Underparts are rufous. Temperatures were in the mid-80's on this clear, sunny day.
