August 15, 2012, began with an early morning birding hike around Huab before packing and leaving for our drive to Okaukuejo Camp in Etosha National Park (Namibia). Brad took this closeup photograph of a Southern Gray-headed Sparrow, Passer diffusus, that was perched in a nearby tree. The bird's bill is black during breeding season. The head is gray, and a single white shoulder bar is evident on a rufous-brown colored wing. Temperatures were in the low 60's on this overcast morning.
