Brad photographed this Spike-heeled Lark (Chersomanes albofasciata) while we were on our way to the waterhole at Okondeka in Etosha National Park (Namibia) during the morning of August 16, 2012. The bird's erect stance, long slender decurved bill, white throat, and white-tipped short tail are shown here. The long hind claw (spike-heel) can also be seen. Temperatures were in the mid-70's with partly cloudy skies.
