Brad photographed this pair of Tawny Eagles (Aquila rapax) at the Kapupuhedi Waterhole in Etosha National Park (Namibia) on August 16, 2012. (We were driving towards Halali Camp, our next over-night stop.) The gape of this species extends only to the middle of the eye. These tawny-colored eagles were perched conspicuously on the other side of the waterhole. Temperatures were in the upper 80's on this sunny afternoon.
