Brad and I were driving in a safari vehicle around the Huab property during the late afternoon of August 12, 2012. Sitting on the top tier of the vehicle, we ended up taking a "beating" along the rocky "road". A small group of Three-banded Plovers, Charadrius tricollaris, scurried along the "road" in front of our vehicle. A double, black breast-band surrounds a single white band which encircles the bird's neck. The red bill is tipped in black. A red eye-ring surrounds a yellow iris, and the legs are pinkish. Temperatures on this clear, sunny afternoon were in the upper 80's.
