Brad and I were driving in a safari vehicle around the Huab Conservation area property during the late afternoon of August 12, 2012. Sitting on the top tier of the vehicle, we ended up taking a "beating" along the rocky "road". Jan, the owner of the property, drove us to an area where he had seen a nesting pair of Verreaux's Eagles, Aquila verreauxii. The birds had built their aerie high atop a nearby rock escarpment. Without bins and a good scope, the whitewash on the rocks was the only key to identifying that a (big) bird was nesting nearby. Temperatures on this clear, sunny afternoon were in the upper 80's.
