During the morning of August 10, 2012, we birded Walvis Bay and Walvis Bay Salt Works. Brad photographed this African Black Oystercatcher (Haematopus moquini) as it was preening. This endemic is a glossy black shorebird with red eyes, bill, and legs. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this overcast morning.
