We birded the Walvis Bay Saltworks and Walvis Bay area on August 10, 2012. Brad photographed this Bank Cormorant (Phalacrocorax neglectus) as it stood near the shore. It is endemic to Namibia and the western seaboard of South Africa. This heavy-bodied bird is black with a bronze sheen. The wings are a dark brown color. The adult has a small crest on its head and a white rump when breeding. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this overcast morning.
